Many times, I’ll learn of an interesting kitchen gadget but refrain from buying it because I don’t want to devote precious kitchen cabinet real estate to storing it. Like most people (especially those who love to cook!), I find storage space in the kitchen to be at a premium, so I make every effort not to accumulate gizmos and gadgets unless they are truly necessary and/or make it considerably easier for me to prepare healthy and satisfying meals. In other words, those small appliances and other pieces of kitchen equipment have to EARN their cabinet rights!?
A fellow blogger turned me onto the InstantPot and, not only did it earn its rightful place in my kitchen, but it’s quickly become a star player!
It serves a number of different functions; it’s a slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice cooker, vegetable steamer, you can even make homemade yogurt in it! Although I’ve never made homemade yogurt, I’ve used the InstantPot every other way and the results have been fabulous. I was able to give away several of those other small appliances – the slow cooker, rice steamer and pressure pot – and now have only the one InstantPot to store. I use it at least once a week and have found a number of very good recipes for the InstantPot posted on Skinnytaste (if you aren’t already familiar with the Skinnytaste food blog, check it out here…it’s wonderful!)
